On Tuesday, Oculus VR unveiled the newest iteration of the Oculus Quest series, which promises to offer “the most immersive, award-winning virtual reality experience ever.”
In addition to a headset that is essentially a pair of goggles, Oculus Quest also offers a camera that can record 360-degree video.
The camera is controlled by a remote control, and users can use it to “capture virtual worlds in an unprecedented way.”
In order to be eligible for the headset, users must own a gaming PC that is at least 10 inches tall, weighing up to 400 pounds, and run at least a Windows 10 PC.
If they don’t own the device, they must purchase the Rift for $400.
For those who want to get a more immersive experience, the Oculus Rift is also available for $500.
The Oculus Quest 2 was released back in October and it features a much improved camera, more customizable gaming options, and an enhanced audio interface.
With the new version, Oculus also added a camera to the headset that can “recall the physical environment, capturing the scene with an exceptional 3D effect, even in the dark.”
The Oculus Rift also includes a built-in 3D camera that allows users to see what they’re looking at in virtual reality.
In addition to capturing a 360-degrees view, the camera can also create a 360 video of what’s on-screen.
The Oculus Rift comes with an optional microphone and speaker, and it is compatible with Windows 10 and MacOS X.
